- In a large skillet over medium heat, add sliced chicken sausage and cook for about 5–7 minutes, until it’s golden brown and cooked through.
- If using, add chopped onion to the skillet with the sausage. Sauté for about 3 minutes, or until the onion is translucent and soft.
- Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the orzo pasta and chicken broth to the skillet, bringing the mixture to a simmer. Cover and reduce the heat to medium-low. Cook for about 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the broccoli florets and cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until they are tender-crisp.
- Remove the skillet from heat and mix in the cream cheese until melted and creamy.
