Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, almond extract, and pure vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a crumbly dough forms.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a surface dusted with powdered sugar or all-purpose flour and roll to ¼ inch thick.
  7. Cut out shapes using a cross-shaped cookie cutter and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 7-9 minutes until set around the edges but not browned on top.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 20 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. Decorate the cooled cookies with vanilla frosting and edible flowers.
