Steps
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 6 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of red wine vinegar, and chopped fresh basil until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Season with salt and freshly cracked black pepper to your taste.
- Shred the Romaine lettuce and chop the cucumber, celery, and diced pickles. Halve the cherry tomatoes and rinse the chickpeas. Set all these ingredients aside.
- Add the lettuce, cucumber, chickpeas, cherry tomatoes, celery, and diced pickles into the bowl with the dressing. Gently fold in the contents.
- Open the drained cans of solid white tuna and gently flake the tuna with a fork. Add the tuna to the salad mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed. Add a splash of red wine vinegar if you prefer a little zing.
- Transfer the salad to serving plates or a bowl, and serve immediately for the freshest flavor, ideally with whole grain crackers or toasted bread.

Notes
Make sure to drain the tuna well before mixing to avoid a watery salad. Use the freshest vegetables to enhance the flavor.
