Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Brown the protein in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes until fully browned.
  2. Drain excess fat and stir in taco seasoning and 1/4 cup of water. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Cook the brown rice according to package instructions, covering and simmering until fluffy.
  4. Chop romaine lettuce and slice avocado just before assembly.
  5. Warm drained black beans over medium heat for about 5 minutes.
  6. Assemble the taco bowl starting with brown rice, followed by lettuce, seasoned protein, and black beans.
  7. Top with cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, avocado, sour cream, and cilantro.
  8. Add optional lime wedges, tortilla strips, or hot sauce to serve.
