  • 4 cups Watermelon Chopped into small chunks
  • 1 cup Basil Simple Syrup Made from fresh basil
  • 1/4 cup Lime Juice Freshly squeezed recommended
  • 2 cups Sparkling Water Can substitute with club soda
  • 1/2 cup Sugar Used for simple syrup
For Garnish
  • 8 leaves Basil Leaves Fresh
  • 2 slices Lime Thinly sliced

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine fresh basil leaves, sugar, and water. Stir gently for about 5-10 minutes until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Strain the cooled syrup using a fine mesh strainer to remove basil leaves, setting aside the syrup.
  3. Blend watermelon chunks until smooth, then strain through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl, discarding pulp.
  4. In a cocktail shaker, combine watermelon juice, basil syrup, and lime juice with ice. Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
  5. Fill tall glasses with ice and strain the mixture over. Top with sparkling water and garnish with basil leaves and lime slices.
